WWOOF Kazakhstan experience of Lea from France
Good day, my name is Lea, and I am from city Dijon, France
In my travel of 6 months over the east I spent 2 months in Kazakhstan, more precisely I stayed for a month and a half in Almaty city in purpose of wwoofing voluntary.
Almaty is a very pleasant place where trees, mountains and rivers enchant your journey. My wwoof host was one of the local kazakh family. The host is a member of one of local environmental group that organizes some regatta on Ile river and on Balkhash lake to show the water level decrease in order to aware most of people of the risk of Kazakhstan desertification.
Therefore I was most of my time sailing on boats. The others projects involve in production of biological humus (warms culture), an experimental recycling of garbage, and also an archeological summer camp with children on an historic site.
The kindness and the sense of hospitality and more over of Kazakh people were amazing.
This beautiful country Kazakhstan - which opened its doors to the world of consumption only 20 years ago must react quickly on future ecological impacts, If Kazakh people don’t want to repeat European mistakes.
have a great journey,
Lea from France
