Hello all Wwoofers as well as hosts!

As a newly registered host I see that most presentations of Wwoofers are very short or none-existant (besides name/nickname, age and country).

I would definitely appreciate some longer presentations of who you are and what interests you have when being a volunteer. I believe other hosts would agree with me. icon_smile.gif

It would be much easier to know who to contact if the descriptions were a bit better. I believe this would be beneficial for both hosts and Wwoofers.

So, please. Write a bit on your presentations so we hosts know if you are having similar interests as we do or not. Also it could work for the Wwoofers themselves to find a travel companion etc.

Also, keeping the profiles updated would be good so we know if you are somewhere in/near Portugal, or plan to go here soon. (To the admin team: Maybe an extra column in the database for "last updated" would be good to have for the Wwoofer profiles too?)

Thanks!

The presentation does not say much. Wwoofers who have made very short and also irrelevant presentation of themselves
have shown up to be fantastic persons. And others with good description are not connected so good to their description.
So I do not count so much of description. Better with many mails, but even these does not give so very good info.

Hi Felicia,

I agree with you when you said that "The presentation does not say much" but it says at least a little bit!

Best wishes,

Rodrigo

Well, I believe that it could help people a bit finding the Wwoofers they look for, just like the Wwoofers choose the hosts out of the descriptions. If the Wwoofers had more info it would be easier at least to see if people have the same interests as you do yourself, an idea of what they might have tried before, what work they enjoy and so on.

Of course there are some people who like to write very nice descriptions that don't always fit with reality but I think that can go for both hosts and Wwoofers. Therefore it's also good to have reviews etc. Still, I personally like to give people a chance even if not having references from several different places. New Wwoofers have to start somewhere right? icon_smile.gif

The e-mails before someone shows up are a good source too, but you're right that sometimes it's hard really knowing until a person shows up. But what other sources would we have to go by?

Because I need some help fairly urgently, I've been initiating contact with WWOOFers that I feel would enjoy staying on my farm based on what they write in their profile. If the profile has no presentation, then I don't contact them. Simple as that.
